Legislation Among The States Has A Familiar Sound To It

Remember a few weeks ago, I told you about HB 859, which would require doctors to take samples of fetal tissue from abortions performed on persons younger than 14 and send that tissue to the DPS for preservation?
Well, it seems Texas isn’t the only state considering such a measure. South Carolina has a similar proposal before its legislature, Although it specifies that fetal tissue can only be taken in cases of suspected sexual assault.
And, this anti-abortion measure isn’t the only Texas proposal that is similar to ones being considered by other legislators.
Remember all the talk of the “distracted driver” legislation like Quintanilla’s HB 652? Oregon is considering similar laws, as well.
And, what about Sen. Jeff Wentworth’s dog bite legislation, SB 405? Tennessee is considering similar proposals.
There are no doubt other bills before the Texas Legislature that have cousins around the nation. It is always interesting to see how many states have similar legislation under consideration as Texas does.
