80th Legislature: Nathan Macias & The Mexican American Legislative Caucus.

Oh, how entertaining:
The only Hispanic Republican lawmaker in the 181-member Texas Legislature has so far declined to join the House Mexican American Legislative Caucus.
Caucus leaders are perplexed that Rep. Nathan Macias, R-Bulverde, has not responded to invitations or attended caucus meetings. The caucus is dominated by Democrats but considers itself bipartisan.
Macias said he has not been invited.
“There’s a place for him in the Mexican American Legislative Caucus. There is a need for his input, and there’s a desire to have him included in the discussions when it comes to representing Latinos across the state,” caucus Vice Chairman Trey Martinez Fischer, D-San Antonio, said Thursday.
Macias says he hasn’t been invited. Leaders say he’s been invited. Who do you believe? Not Macias, who has been bought and paid for by James Leininger.
Also, I guess it has dawned on me that “Macias” is not an Anglican sounding name, but I never really think of him as one of our Latino Legislators.
