80th Legislature: Could Catholic Priests Kill Death Penalty Portions Of Jessica’s Law?

Paul Burka claims that concerns that Catholic priests who end up getting convicted of two sexual offenses would face the death penalty was one of the driving forces behind halting the debate on HB 8, i.e. “Jessica’s Law” last week before the Legislature.

If that really is the case, then I think it is safe to say that the death penalty provisions of HB 8 are as good as dead. I say this not only because of the large number of Catholic members of the House but also because any relutcant Catholics could form enough of a coalition with those against the death penalty for sex offenders to possibly have the language stricken from the bill.

An interesting possibility.

Just more evidence — as if we needed it — that if altar boys could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.

An even more important consideration is that if an eighth-grade romance resulted in the pregnancy of a 13 year-old girl, her 14 year-old boyfriend could be sentenced to life without parole.

This thing has turned into a runaway train.
