Slow Monday Morning Link Dump

With all of the excitement last week’s filing deadline for new legislation before the Texas Legislature (don’t worry, we’ve got a round-up on all of that good last-minute legislation coming later this week), it’s kind of a slow early Monday morning, so we’ve got a link dump for you.

First, this week will mark the anniversary of the New London School Disaster, which is something that is a very important and tragic part of Texas History. You can read more about that here and here.

The Statesman brings us a story about an Ohio official who is “on loan” to Texas for a week to help try and clean up the disaster at the Texas Youth Commission.

The SAExN has a story on the legislation coming to the House concerning Perry’s cervical cancer vaccine executive order.

Here is an interesting story about a woman who taught at Southwestern Theological Seminary who is suing claiming she was fired because she was a woman teaching men. Interesting.

A British paper reports that Texas-based Halliburton will be relocating its corporate headquarters to Dubai.

AP has an interesting story on a public records audit done on various government bodies in Texas.

Former Governor Dolph Briscoe will be honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

It seems as though Supreme Court Justice Nathan Hecht is trying to get the state to pay his legal bills from the Harriet Miers saga before the Texas Judicial Conduct Commission.
