Thanks, QR!

You may recall that earlier we did some good-natured (good natured!) finger wagging at our colleagues over at QR a few days ago after they utilized a listing of House members on a particular vote from Capitol Annex. We, of course, have the same goal as QR, which is simply getting the information “out there” for folks to see, and, in case anyone may have misinterpreted it, our finger-wagging at QR was good natured.

And, today, QR took note and very kindly credited us for the list:

A BELATED TIP OF THE HAT TO CAPITOL ANNEX
We used their list of the twenty five signers of House petition blocking further amendments to Howard’s prayer in school bill

As often happens, readers provide missing links in information we report.

While browsing through some blogs today, I realized that we used information from Capitol Annex without attributing. We did not know that was the source at the time, but have since discovered it to be true.

When the names of the twenty five House members moving to block their colleagues from amending a co-called “free speech” bill by Charlie Howard were read on the floor, we were only able to hear, transcribe and report twenty of them. A few days later, a reader sent me the complete list, which I dutifully reported.

What I did not know, but have since discovered, is that they got the list from the Capitol Annex blog.

A similar incident happened at the beginning of the session with In the Pink Texas.

One of the things that makes QR work is the help of our readers. We try to be scrupulous about attributing information we get from other sources. There are a lot of very talented people paying attention out there and it is our intention to honor, not conceal them.

Thanks, QR. We know how the online newsgame is: it’s fast-paced and, hey, stuff happens. No hard feelings, and, of course, thanks for the credit.
