President Paul? The New Sanjaya!

[[Ok. Since a Texan is among the Republican also-rans running for President (yawn), we're going to have to start writing about the darned race. So far, since this is a strictly state-level blog, we've been pretty silent on the race. But, with a Texan in the mix, we're going to start covering it more. Or, should I say, we're just going to use this opportunity to poke a dull stick at Ron Paul (not worth a sharp one).]]

It is entertaining to me that Texas Congressman Ron Paul was in the lead of the Text Messaging Poll of Fox News following their debate last night. The presidential race has already turned into American Idol and Ron Paul is the new Sanjaya. *Sigh* He’s just such a train wreck you feel sorry for the man.

Sure, you have to give notice to the fact that he’s the only Republican candidate who is against the war. But, he is also in favor of the gold standard and is just a little too all-over-the-map for any party. (Oh, right…because he’s really a LIBERTARIAN). The Late Jerry Fallwell would *so* not approve.

Tonight, Ron Paul was touting isolationist policies that went out the window in America during the second Wilson administration. And, he got the smack-down from technical Texan Rudy Giuliani (I say “technical Texan” because he’s the named partner of Bracewell & Giuliani, formerly Bracewell & Patterson).
