Shield Law Just Killed On Point Of Order

SB 966, the Free Flow of Information Act, aka the Shield Law, was just killed on a point of order in the Texas House.

The Shield Law is dead for another session. WTF?

Anyway, journalists should thank Rep. Aaron Pena (D-Edinburg) for all his early work on this bill (he was its first author this session and was ahead of the rest of the pack). Even though it didn’t necessarily include all bloggers (I’ve made these arguments before), it was needed legislation and I appreciate the work he put in on it.
