Villarreal Receives Award From Equality Texas

Equality Texas Honors Representative Michael Villarreal as its first Advocate Award Recipient

The Equality Texas Advocate Award is given to an outstanding public servant whose high ideals include a dedication to equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Texans.  This inaugural award will be given on an annual basis to a public figure with a steadfast reputation for supporting issues of equality for all Texans.

Representative Mike Villarreal continues to champion equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Texans. In the current legislative session and in past sessions, he has authorized broad legislation to pass nondiscrimination laws inclusive of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, and real estate.  Representative Villarreal believes that by working with the LGBT community to increase grassroots organizing, we can pass comprehensive nondiscrimination legislation.
