First Dunnam and now Hill are putting Appropriations Chair Warren Chisum (R-Pampa) on the spot about the more than $100 million in special higher ed appropriations which are allegedly Craddick’s payola to keep wayward members in his camp.

Chisum has stated that he really has no clue about it and that the conferees haven’t voted on them.

Hill: Have these special items been developing as we’ve gone along over the past week or so?

Chisum: Yes.

Hill: So, if we’ve had this conversation over a week ago, we wouldn’t be in this.

Chisum: Yes. No. These have always been around, the education people brought them to us…

Hill: This is an issue that has been the subject of a lot of conversation.

Chisum: I know the House will do the right thing in the end.

Hill: And I know you will, Mr. Chisum.

Castro has asked for the exchanges between Dunnam and Chisum and Hill and Chisum be reduced to writing and put in the journal.

Now, Leo Berman is up.

Berman: Do you know I have four special items on Article 11 that went on Article 11 two and a half months ago during the appropriations hearing?

Chisum: Yes, sir.

Berman: Do you know no one on appropriations has contacted me about my items on Article 11 and I have no idea if these items are going to pass or not?

Berman says a lot of people have no idea about their Article 11 requests.

That was one heck of an ominous conversation Chisum and Hill had.

Glad you’re liveblogging; this is history we’re witnessing.
