Renovations to Sylvester Turner Park Could Fund 1,000 Kids On CHIP

Remember talk about Craddick allies (including some Dems) getting lulus in the budget? Well, one of the most egregious lulus belongs to Speaker Pro Tem Sylvester(who also happens now to be a candidate for House Speaker):

An Associated Press report in Saturday’s Star-Telegram called attention to $176 million in budget “special items” for Craddick’s House supporters. Democrat Sylvester Turner, for example, got a $600,000 matching grant for renovations at the Sylvester Turner Park in his Houston district.

Word on the street is that this $600K would fund a thousand kids on CHIP. Wow. Amazing…sad, but true.

Word in the hood is that also equals about as many lattes and and glasses of white wine consumed by do gooders across the state in one day.

At least the money for the park will maybe keep some kids from carjacking some of you good folks in West U. , Uptown, Memorial and River Oaks.

You need to thank him. Better still you need to send him some money out of your happy hour budget for those kids.
