Capitol Annex, Other Texas Blogs Part Of Government Course

We here at Capitol Annex, along with other Texas bloggers, were pleased to learn this week that we’re playing a small role in a course on Texas State and Local Government at Austin Community College taught by instructor Kris Seago this summer.
And, creating a Texas-oriented political blog is actually 16.6% of the students’ grades, which is quite interesting.
There’s a course being taught this summer on Texas State and Local Government at Austin Community College that requires students to set up and write a blog as part of their grade.
Capitol Annex, along with several other bloggers, are listed as “Suggested Sources” for bloggers to examine, and we’re also among the blogs students are to link to on their newly created blogs. You can check out the instructor’s sample blog here.
The class bloggers include: United as One, The Heart of Texas, Big States Deserve Big Opinions, By Jingo!, Texas Government – Summer Session 2, Suspicious Minds and Classroom Blog.
We join Kuff in welcoming these folks (even if it is only for a while) to the Texas Blogsphere, and hope some of them will stick around for a while.

Thanks for the virtual shout out. This is the first semester I’ve required students to establish blogs. Some of the students are doing excellent work and I hope the attention you and Kuff are giving will encourage them to keep it up. By the end of the week we’ll have approximately 60 new Texas politics-based blogs.
Glad to offer the shout-out. I’ve noticed a number of those newer blogs cropping up, including one of your students who has made several posts and looks like he may continue blogging for a while after the course.
It’s an excellent way to help students learn about blogging and politics.
