Peña is quite involved in his district and brought home a lot of pork this year, but as committee chair on Criminal Jurisprudence, he did much harm and stymied much good. I like Aaron personally and think he has good intentions, but he showed on Criminal Jurisprudence he’s not always a strong or wise leader. I know nothing about his opponent, but I’m glad he’s drawn one. Peña’s mixed-bag record deserves vetting and debate on the home front before he comes back to Austin again.

As a constituent of District 40 Rep. Pena has done a wonderful job since he has been elected. More importantly I was pleased that he contributed to increasing assistance for the CHIP program. I don’t have kids but knowing that when I do and I were to come across a hard time in life I will have some sense of security for my child’s health. Rep. Pena has been by far a champion for his constituents in Austin.

Rep. Pena is very active in our community here in South Texas. He takes the time to attend events and speak to our youth. He makes himself available to our schools and teachers. I also read in the papers that he makes time to speak to our college students at UT Pan American and South Texas College. So far, he has been very supportive of schools and teachers.
