Why Is The MSM Trying To Drive A Wedge Between Rick Noriega And The Blogs?

If you haven’t seen R.G. Ratcliffe’s disjointed garbage from this morning, read it, because it is a classic example of what is wrong with the MainStream media.

Here’s my response, as an individual blogger involved in Draft Noriega and Bloggers for Noriega, to the story:

For the first time in Texas’ political history, the political establishment has seen the power and might of the Texas netroots and the national netroots on a large scale through the Draft Noriega movement.

R.G. Ratcliffe, acting as a lap-dog for the political establishment, deliberately set out to drive a wedge between Rick and some of his strongest supporters in his article. Rick’s quote was taken completely out of context and is, in fact, almost a total misquote. Ratcliffe’s story is one of the worst examples of selective quotation in journalism we’ve seen since the days of Ann Richards and Clayton Williams.

Bloggers started the Draft Noriega movement. Bloggers continue to stand behind Rick Noriega. I believe he is the best hope for Texas. I will not be deterred by misquoting journalists peddling the wares of the old brick-and-mortar political establishment. This is not 2003, it is 2007. It is a new day for Texas, and we remain undeterred by the mistakes, misquotes, and wedge-driving actions of the out-of-touch mainstream media.

  3. links from TechnoratiWhat is worse is that many of those in the Texas online progressive movement jumped to blindly defend Rick rather than reevaluate their support for someone who took them for granted and used them. First they blamed the reporter for trying to drive awedgebetween Rick Noriega and the blogs (even going at length to insult him). Then they blamed the Watts campaign. Then they blamed his speech writer and Noriega for not saying what he means. Then, that the speech taken out of context. And finally, they
