TX HD 40: Pena Files For Re-Election

State Rep. Aaron Pena (D-Edinburg) filed for re-election down in House District 40 yesterday. He’s likely to face a very contentious race in the Democratic Primary. We at Capitol Annex wish him all the best.
As we’ve said before, Pena’s campaign will be no walk in the park, even with the various and sundry things that have cropped up around his opponent, Edinburg engineer Eddie Saenz. However, of all of the so-called “Craddick D’s,” Pena is best situated to withstand a primary challenge. And, based on his record of service to his district, he’s very likely to be re-elected. Although we’re admittedly no fan of his vote for Speaker Craddick, Rep. Pena is a good state representative who has accomplished a lot for his district which, contrary to the prevailing wisdom, will be tough for candidates who campaign from the left.
