Congressman Sam Johnson (R-Plano) has drawn a primary opponent in the form of Wayne Avellant, who is a self-proclaimed Sarbanes-Oxley Act International Control Compliance expert and one of those corporate seminar gurus. So, it would appear he’s well-moneyed and well-spoken.
It’s doubtful that Johnson has quite the Teflon-ness that Ralph Hall (R-Rockwall) possesses, but we suspect he’s probably safe. However, there are numerous rumblings that the business community in Plano wants someone who is more in tune with their needs and ready to answer at their beck and call than Johnson, who has reportedly become, “ineffective.”
Could be an interesting primary.

U.S. Congress, District 3, GOP Primary The dissatisfaction with State Rep. Johnson in Plano has evidently been significant enough to draw him not one but two opponents. The first, Wayne Avellanet,we told you about earlier. Now, another candidate has entered the race, Harry Pierce, a retired airline pilot. No information has emerged about Pierce yet, but we’ll keep you posted. So far, Avellanet is the biggest threat to Johnson.
