Howdy Vince,

Good stuff here, but I don't agree that the quotes attributed to you above accurately describe Rick Noriega's candidacy. I think he is a good candidate, I think he'll be a great alternative to John Cornyn, but I'm disappointed that the TPA would endorse a candidate that will not agree to debate his opponent.

In July of 2006, you said this about Hutchison's refusal to debate Barbara Ann Radnofsky:

"That is why the thought of debating Barbara Radnofsky evidently scares Kay Bailey Hutchison so bad that she hasn’t accepted a single debate invitation that’s been extended to date. What is Kay Bailey Hutchison afraid of? That Barbara Radnofsky is smarter than she is? That Barbara Radnofsky knows more than she does? That Barbara Radnofsky has her finger on the pulse of Texas voters more than she does?"

So far, I think it's fair to say that the same questions could be asked of Rick Noriega and until he agrees to debate his opponent he has not earned an endorsement.

There also remains the issue of accepting money from Bob "Swift Boat" Perry and the absence of an issues page on his web site. The latter could be forgiven for at least a little while were it not for repeated reports from the trail that Rick Noriega does a poor job of addressing the issues in his stump speeches as well.

Hugh Stearns says it well at BOR here:
