Texas AFl-CIO COPE Convention Liveblogging: Address Of Supreme Court Candidate Chief Justice Candidate Jim Jordan

I was raised in a union household. My mother was a member of the Communication Workers–CWA. She joined in 1946 and she retired in 1992. In 1947 at the very young age of 19, she participated in her first strike–she was the first person out the door.

I don’t have a primary opponent, but I am going to be helping and asking for your your support.

(Also talked about the travesty of Rosenthal dismissing the Medina indictment)

There are forces at work that do not believe that a jury does not know how to make a decision or how to decide facts. Juries are very important to our legal system and our American way or life. Without the jury system we don’t have an American way of life. It is an opportunity for you to be connected to your own government. I am afraid that we have a court that views the jury system as a failure of the judicial process. I never though I would live to see the day that was true or I would say that. The jury system doesn’t represent the failure of the judicial process, it is what makes the judicial process work. I am going to ask you to join me and help preserve the rights we have under the constitution.
