Who Are The Greater Harris County Democrats?

In the last two days, there has been much cyber buzz concerning an organization called Greater Harris County Democrats, not to be confused with the Harris County Democrats.
Greater Harris County Democrats has, within the last few days, started a website and released a lengthy slate of candidate endorsements. The majority of the endorsements track the endorsements of numerous other groups in Harris County and across the state fairly closely, except these:
KEVIN BAILEY – State Representative, District 140
AL EDWARDS – State Representative, District 146
JOSE MEDRANO – State Representative, District 148
Most groups have stayed out of HD 146 because nobody likes Edwards, the “Craddick D,” and it isn’t the right time to endorse Borris Miles. Most groups, including the Harris County Democrats, have endorsed Armando Walle in HD 140. And, in HD 148, almost no one has endorsed Jose Medrano.
But that’s not all:
LARRY JOE DOHERTY – U.S. Congress District 10
So far, between Houston and Austin endorsements, Dan Grant (D-Austin), has been 13-0 in spite of some nasty Doherty push polling (as recently as Jan. 28, calls were being made in Travis County saying positive things about Doherty and negative things about Grant). However, suddenly and in fairly close timing with the release of the endorsements of the well-established Harris County Democrats, this group emerges on the scene with no information about who they are, whatsoever.
Even the website isn’t registered to an individual group. It’s registered to political consultant Stephen K. Johnson (aka Kyle Johnson), a Harris County political consultant who consulted on Sylvester Turner’s race for Mayor of Houston, among other things.
So, what gives? Democratic organizations are great, and we’d be glad to see another one in Harris County, but if they are going to advocate, why not tell the world who they are?

I talked to a guy named Nick that works on Carol Alvarado’s campaign about this last night. He said it is a new day in Houston and the old guard will be taken down. That this group just represents a new coalition of progressive Dems that dont want to be caught up in all the in fighting.
Apparently he sees this campaign as a stepping stone for Carol to be the next queen bee of latino politics. he went on and on about new coalitions of african americans and latinos and gays …crazy crazy crazy
