Texas Senator Leticia Van de Putte, who is slated to co-chair the Democratic National Convention this summer, today endorsed Hillary Clinton for President of the United States.
Initially hesitant to publicly endorse any candidate because of her position as a leader at the National Convention in Denver later this year, she first spoke with DNC Chairman Howard Dean, who assured her that an endorsement for the candidate of her choice would be appropriate.
Van de Putte said the following regarding her endorsement:
“Democrats this year have the opportunity to choose between two exciting candidates. Regardless of who ultimately earns the Democratic nomination, we will indeed proudly make history. Each candidate wants to move America forward in much-needed new directions, each is passionate and committed, and either would do America proud.
“For me, however, the choice is obvious: I will enthusiastically support Senator Hillary Clinton.
“Senator Clinton shares my vision for effective policy for hard-working families, and to ensuring that families, especially children, have access to affordable quality healthcare.
“I admire Senator Clinton’s commitment to ensuring world-class education from pre- kindergarten through college, and I believe she best provides the combination of experience, and the desire for change, to get the job done.
“I trust Hillary Clinton to move America in the right direction, and she has my enthusiastic support.”
