Mindy Montford, Reb Wayne, And The Pro-Life Crowd

Evidently, our post earlier this week on Republican operative Reb Wayne being present at a Mindy Montford press conference has touched off some serious nerves in Austin.

Sources tell Capitol Annex that someone claiming to be from the Montford campaign is now calling Austin-area lawmakers such as Donna Howard, Valinda Bolton, and Mark Strama, and insuring them that Mindy Montford is as yellow-dog of a Democrat as they come and that she doesn’t have a clue who Reb Wayne is.

That’s funny, because other sources tell us that Wayne is working to spearhead a letter to Catholic and anti-abortion voters touting Montford’s pro-life virtues. The letter, we understand, will be signed by none other than State Sen. Eddie Lucio (D-Brownsville).

Not only that, but for someone who claims to know all about the Tom DeLay investigation that was done by the Travis County DA’s office, Montford should well know who Reb Wayne is. He was at the heart of the investigation into $190,000 in contributions laundered through the Republican National Committee in 2002. Wayne was campaign manager for both Todd Baxter and Jack Stick, each of whom got $40,000 checks from the laundered cash.

    Vince -

You are now not only a liar, but using Rush Limbaugh’s favorite tactic: Wrapping a bunch of truths around a lie.

Reb Wayne may be all the things you say, but he was not at the Montford press conference. And that can be proven. If this had not been entirely fabricated, you would have already presented evidence that the guy was there.

Mindy Montford has a long history as a pro-choice activist, and that too can be proven, Vince.

You are treading on serious grounds by fabricating such things.
