More Than 600 Delegates Turn Out In Guadalupe County

The Seguin Gazette has the story on the Guadalupe County Convention:

Democratic officials estimated that more than 600 delegates, alternate delegates and guests attended the convention, which lasted well into the afternoon Saturday.

One Guadalupe County sheriff’s deputy said the Bingo crowd on Thursday nights usually fills up the Lions hall parking lot, but “they don’t fill up the road like this.” He was referring to the automobiles that were parked along the shoulder of F.M. 78, stretching from the railroad tracks to a couple of hundred yards toward Seguin during Saturday’s convention.

“This is a wonderful turnout. There are so many people involved,” Stella Ozuna, a convention delegate from Seguin, said as she observed the hall filling up with Democrats. The Ozunas, who were recently named Citizens of the Year by the Seguin Gazette-Enterprise, were attending their first Democratic convention at the county level.

Wow. Bigger crowds than bingo.
