State Rep. Mike Krusee Arrested For DWI

MIKE KRUSEELeave it to the man who passed legislation to increase surcharges for drunk driving offenses to actually get arrested for DWI.

State Rep. Mike Krusee (R-Round Rock) was arrested for DWI late Wednesday night and spent the night in jail, being released just before nine this morning with his bail set at $1,000.

More from the Statesman:

Krusee was booked into the Williamson County Jail at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday and was released at 8:55 a.m. today, officials said. His bail was set at $1,000.

DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange said a trooper spotted a vehicle on Anderson Mill, eastbound from U.S. 183 with an expired registration and being driven erratically. Mange said the trooper noticed a strong smell of alcohol and administered a field sobriety test, which she said Krusee failed.

She said Krusee refused a Breathalyzer test.

According to KXAN, Krusee was stopped about an hour before he was booked into the jail:

Department of Public Safety officials arrested Krusee at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday for driving while intoxicated, according to Williamson County spokesperson John Foster.

I’m a bit surprised Krusee didn’t refuse the field sobriety test. Most people who know to refuse a Breathalyzer know to refuse the FST’s, too.

And, for those who aren’t aware, this means that Krusee’s license will be subject to an administrative suspension within the next 90 days as well. Of course, he can contest the hearing and attempt to secure an occupational license, but I’m sure that those who know Krusee best for his transportation and Trans-Texas Corridor antics will find no shortage of humor in the fact that, very soon, he’ll likely be restricted from driving on the very transportation projects he’s championed.
