A very interesting bit of gossip circulating around the Houston area this week made its way to our in-box: that a $200,000 “bounty” is offered to bring forward a write-in candidate to Sheila Jackson Lee in House District 18.
Some of Jackson’s constituents are reportedly upset with her over her continued support of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and want to make Jackson Lee venerable going into the 2010 primary for a more organized challenge. The movement to locate a write-in candidate, however, is reportedly hatched by Harris County Republicans and some African American political leaders who are opposed to Jackson Lee. According to the message that passed through our email inbox, a minor member of the Houston City Council is reportedly ready to wage the write-in campaign.

There is no need for a write-in candidate, Sheila has an opponent already…John Faulk is a Conservative Republican and will be on the ballot in November. When I found out about John Faulk I was excited to say the least. In the past for some reason there has been no challenge for her. It seems everyone is afraid of taking her on. Well not anymore. The days of running without a real challenge is over, and momentum is building for john Faulk. I encourage anyone who is tired having to hang their heads in shame because they happen to live in the 18th congressional district to get behind Faulk for congress and get the 18th represented in Washington. Sheila has a strong candidate running against her. Wouldn’t a write in campaign hurt SJL and help the GOP candidate. Do you think the Republicans are smart enough to cook up this type of plan.
If you are not happy with Sheila knock her off by voting for Faulk and then knock him off in 2010.
If Hillary wins there Sheila will move up into the Clinton II administration and there will be a Special Election in 2009 or 2010. If there were 14 Rep candidates for CD 22 I would bet 30 or 40 brothers would run in a Special Election. What is Borris Miles doing? Isn’t he going to be looking for a job come January?
