On Thursday night, when Texas bloggers and progressive netroots activists from across the Lone Star State gather with many of our readers and Democratic activists for our Third Biennial Blogger’s Caucus, we will be joined by many of the great candidates on the ballot this year, as well as many incumbent Democratic officeholders.
As of Sunday Morning, the Texas Progressive Alliance has announced, via the Caucus ‘08 website, that the following great candidates and officeholders will be dropping by the Caucus:
- Joe Jaworski, candidate for Texas Senate
- Sherrie Matula, candidate for State Representative
- Sam Houston, candidate for Texas Supreme Court
- Houston City Councilwoman Melissa Noriega
Of course, those aren’t all of the “special guests.” Between now and Wednesday, check the Texas Blogger’s Caucus website frequently, as we plan to roll out the identities of new special guests several times a day through Thursday morning.
The Caucus, in its third year, will be held at the Cedar Door, 201 Brazos, Austin, from 8:30 p.m. until Midnight on Thursday, June 5.
The Texas Blogger’s Caucus was founded in 2004 when bloggers Charles Kuffner (Off The Kuff), Byron LaMasters (BOR’s founder), Vince Leibowitz (then of Free State Standard, now of Capitol Annex), Greg Wyeth (Greg’s Opinion), Aziz Poonawalla (City of Brass), and Sarah White (then of Roman Candles) met with then-Congressional Candidate Richard Morrison at an wi-fi friendly coffee shop in downtown Houston during the 2004 TDP convention.
In 2006 the Caucus was taken over by the Texas Progressive Alliance and, under the leadership of our Tarrant County bloggers led by Annatopia, more than 600 convention attendees passed in and out of the Caucus at the Flying Saucer in downtown Fort Worth.
In this, our third year, we hope to have well over 1,000 attendees. Won’t you join us?
