HD 96: Results From March Primaries Show Shifting Sands In Zedler’s District

For those of you not familiar with the HD 96 race in which TexBlog PAC endorsed today, I thought I’d share with you something interesting about that district related to the March primaries.
First of all, Democrats outvoted Republicans in the district by more than a two-to-one margin! Although D turnout was higher across the state, the percentage difference was greater in HD 96 than it was statewide or countywide in Tarrant County.
Too, there were more Democratic Primary voters in HD 96 than in any other House District across Tarrant County.
Chris turner received 16,912 votes in the primary–more than twice Zedler’s 7,129 (in fact, more than a quarter of GOP primary votes were against Zedler).
Of course, you must remember that Zedler only won re-election in 2006 by a very unimpressive, very weak 52.5 percent of the vote.
