Cornyn Takes Money From Champions Of Trans-Texas Corridor

As the July reports of political action committees trickle in on the Texas Ethics Commission’s website, there are several interesting contributions that have popped up from the Zachry Construction Company Political Action Committee. Zachry, of course, is a major pro-toll road ally that is playing a major role in the construction of the Trans-Texas Corridor.
Perhaps the most interesting contribution was to U.S. Senator John Cornyn. Cornyn got a $5,000 contribution from the PAC on March 1 of this year.
That’s particularly interesting because Cornyn has claimed opposition to the Corridor, and considering that Cornyn has authored the legislation to create the Mexican superhighway that would connect to the TTC–with U.S. Tax Dollars.
Others who took Zachry’s money include:
Congressman Michael Burgess: $1,500 on 5/5/08
State Senator John Carona: $1,000 on 6/11/08
Congressman John Carter: $1,000 on 3/1/08
State Sen. Frank Corte: 500.00 on 3/1/08
Lt. Governor David Dewhurst: $2,500 on 6/15/08
Rep. Phil King: $500 on 3/1/08
Congressman Lamar Smith: 1,500 on 6/23/08
Railroad Commissioner Michael L. Williams: 1,500 on 3/1/08 and $1,500 on 6/12/08
