Although a Congressional committee is set schedule a hearing to determine whether or not to hold former White House aide Karl Rove in contempt of Congress, it’s not stopping him for raising cash for U.S. Senator John Cornyn in El Paso.
The El Paso Times notes:
Rove, ex-deputy chief of staff for President Bush, will be the headliner for a private fundraiser Aug. 18 to be hosted by El Pasoans J.O. and Marlene Stewart.
“We expect he (Rove) will attend,” said Dave Beckwith, spokesman for Cornyn’s campaign in Austin, who would not elaborate.
J.O. Stewart, of course, is the solid waste disposal king of El Paso, the founder of El Paso Disposal which, incidentally, has some fat federal contracts with military bases including Ft. Bliss and Haviland Airforce Base in El Paso.
