State Rep. Phil King (R-Weatherford) is holding a fundraiser at the home of Leslie Ward, the head of Government Affairs for telecommunications giant AT&T.
King, who chairs the House Committee on Regulated Industries, has already come under fire several times for shady ethical practices, including taking Super Bowl tickets from a lobbyist for CenterPoint energy, yet another company that King’s committee regulates. King has also been criticized for asking lobbyists for the electricity industry to help push some of his pet bills before the Legislature.
It is King, who has been criticized because of his close links to the telecom and energy industries, would hold a fundraiser at the home of the person who is essentially the chief lobbyist for AT&T.
