TX HD 129: After Spending Ike’s Worst Days In Austin, Davis Spams Out Fundraiser Email

Of all of the tacky, idiotic, ill-timed stunts pulled by political campaigns during Ike and its immediate aftermath, one stunt State Rep. John Davis (R-Clear Lake) takes not just the cake, but the entire bakery.
After getting out of House District 129 well in advance of Ike, presumably because a few days without air conditioning was more than he could stand, Davis didn’t bother to head back to his district (and to our knowledge is still AWOL) to assess the damage.
On top of that, instead of sending out a helpful email to his constituents to tell them how they can get help like nearly every other elected official in Houston has done, Davis had the audacity to send out a fund-raising email for a top-dollar event he’s hosting at the tony Austin Club.
Instead of helping, he has the nerve to put his hand out when so many within his district don’t even have electricity to turn on their computers to read his grimy email.
It’s way past time to replace John Davis. A man who votes against Texas veterans and then turns around and basically gives his displaced constituents the finger by asking them for cash handouts doesn’t have the requisite honor to serve in a body as august as the Texas House of Representatives.
