TX HD 129: Matula Bests Davis In Fundraising, Cash On Hand For Second Reporting Period In A Row

For the second reporting period in a row, Sherrie Matula (D-Houston) has bested State Rep. John Davis (R-Clear Lake) in fundraising and cash on hand. For the reporting period just ended, Matula reported nearly $75,000 more in cash on hand than Davis, and raised nearly $80,000 more than the 11-year incumbent.
Capitol Annex rated Texas House District 129 as “Lean Democratic” yesterday, and is set to upgrade the rating later this morning.
Matula raised $125,823.77 for the period, spent $61,554.36, and maintained $136,934.03 cash on hand. Davis raised $46,562.51–a low number in spite of the fact that high-dollar fundraisers like Karl Rove came to the district to raise funds for him–spent more than he raised ($49,618.73) had had a mere $62,046.25 in cash on hand.

At least Capitol Annex knows a good thing when they see it. Too bad the Houston Chronicle made the mistake of endorsing a “veteran Republican” to represent District 129. I have seen Sherrie action and I can tell you people are glad to see her when she is out and about knocking on doors. She opened her office when we were hit by IKE and offered assistance to those in need. She will never be a piece of furniture in Austin. I am excited she is running and it is time for change in the Houston area.
Go Sherrie !!!
