Long Awaited “Contract With Texans” Revealed

Some months ago, we told you that there were some rumors afoot that Republicans this year would be campaigning on a “Contract with Texans” modeled after Newt Gingrich’s 1990s-era “Contract with America.”
At long last, we’ve been able to get our hands on the contract, although the organization sponsoring it, the Texas Conservative Coalition, calls it “A Renewed Pledge With Texans.”
Here are the main points of the pledge:
Cut Property Taxes Until They Are Eliminated
Protect The Right To Vote By Requiring Photo ID and Verifying Citizenship
Secure The Texas Border
Stop The Trans-Texas Corridor and Other Eminent Domain ABuses
Cut, Simplify, and Reform Business Taxes
Lower Electric Rates and Clean the Environment
Make Texas a Leader in Public Education
Make Texas a National Leader in Higher Education
Make Healthcare More Affordable For Families
Limit the Growth of Government.
We know that the Photo ID requirement for voting is bogus, and we know that the “cut property taxes until they are eleminated is nothing more than Phil King’s tax plan, which would result in excessive sales taxes on everything from food to medication.
