TX HD 129: John Davis Gets Cash From Craddick, Leininger

Given that State Rep. John Davis (R-Clear Lake), had such a poor showing on his 30-day out report with the Texas Ethics Commission it is no surprise that a cadre of ultra-right-wing donors that are out of touch with Texas House District 129 are now pouring in cash.
They include:
School voucher advocate James Leininger: $5,000, 10/3/08
Houston home builder Bob Perry, aka John Davis’ Sugar Daddy: $ 10,000.00, 10/10/08 & $ 15,000.00, 10/03/08
John Davis’ 8-day out report shows that Bob Perry, Tom Craddick, James Leininger and their special interest PACs contributed 67% of Davis’ total contributions during the latest reporting period!
Here is what Sherrie Matula (D-Houston) had to say about this:
“While we have been knocking on 20,000 doors in the District and listening to voters, it’s clear my opponent has been knocking on Bob Perry’s door and listening to the voices of special interests. Our district deserves better than that,” commented Matula. “Of particular concern to me is that while Davis touts his concern for schools and teachers, he is taking contributions from Leininger, the architect of school voucher schemes in Texas. We need a representative who is fully committed to public education.”
