TX SD 10: Davis Campaign Raises Half A Million In 22 Days

The Wendy Davis campaign for Texas Senate announced today that it has raised over a half million dollars in just 22 days.

This should leave no doubt in political observers’ minds that Davis has the funding and resources to continue her pace-setting campaign through election day.

From the Davis campaign:

The Davis Campaign raised $523,299.10 between the 30-day and 8-day campaign finance reports, exceeding their fundraising totals for any earlier reporting period in a fraction of the time.
Davis attributes the fundraising success to a hunger among Texans for a positive change in leadership during difficult economic times.

“I want to go to the State Senate to represent the concerns of Tarrant County families, not special interests like my opponent has done. When I was on the Fort Worth City Council, I was proud to do just that – get involved in my community, listen to their concerns, and then work across party lines to get real results,” Davis said.

Davis says that seeing families in her community struggle with pocketbook issues while the economy continues to decline, and having experienced those struggles in her own life, is what drives her to represent those families at the State level.

“As a single mom raising a young daughter on my own, I learned what it felt like to come home and find out your electricity had been turned off because you couldn’t afford the bill,” Davis said. “The Texas Legislature has the ability to help bring utility rates back in line with the rest of the nation, but Tarrant County’s senators aren’t looking out for their constituents. I will work to change that at the state level.”

Davis also noted that she has experience in successful economic development, having served on Fort Worth’s Central City Revitalization and Economic Development Committee. “I am proud to have helped create thousands of jobs in Tarrant County through public-private partnerships,” Davis said.

Again, you report what you want. Davis raised 523,000, Brimer raised 610,000. Davis shows 45,000 on hand for last week, Brimer 500,000. By the way the special interests she talks about include both the Texas A&M PAC, and UT’s Friends of the University…turn out their alumni in District 10 and it’s over.

Sorry I should have said Brimer raised 600,000.
