If Obama Wants To Help Texas, He Should Start By Not Poaching Volunteers

Once again, the Obama campaign is planning on poaching volunteers from Texas to export them to other states. PolitickerTX reports that the Obama campaign will be exporting Texas volunteers to Ohio and New Mexico:

“This election will come down to the wire, and we can’t afford to wake up on November 5th wishing we’d done more,” Juan Sepulveda, Obama’s state director, told supporters in an email.  “And the face-to-face contact that Texas supporters can make with voters could tip a crucial battleground for Barack.”

Supporters do not need have any experience, according to the email. In addition, the campaign will provide travelers’ transportation and lodging. They will be able to stay at the homes of other supporters or in hotels.

“Just pack some warm clothes and join your fellow Texans in connecting with voters in New Mexico or Ohio,” Sepulveda added.

This is not the first time Obama’s campaign has asked Texans to help out in other states. The campaign has repeatedly asked supporters to travel to New Mexico and Colorado since Obama secured the presidential nomination.

Democrats, however, have criticized the campaign for exporting volunteers to states that are perceived to be more competitive for the Illinois Democrat. They argue there are many down-ballot races, such as those for state House, that need volunteers too.

Yeah, Democrats are critical of this because it is a stupid move. Texas has a lot of competitive races down-ballot. However, the Obama campaign simply has no regard for what we actually need in Texas, just as many Democrats predicted back in June.
