Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-Fort Worth) has announced that she will not seek another term as vice-chair of the House Republican Conference, fueling speculation that she is positioning herself for a race for U.S. Senate if and when U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison steps down to run for governor.
Here is part of Granger’s statement:
“While I feel that I accomplished much with all of you during the 110th Congress, I believe it is best to encourage others to step forward to add to the voices delivering our message and devising a clear plan for the future,” wrote Granger. “I will continue to be active in our conference, but I will not seek a second term as Vice Chair. I will continue my efforts to bring our party’s message to women across the country, and I will focus on my district and my committee work.”
