Marquez Blasts TDP Chair Ritchie, Says It Is Premature To Consider Her A Vote For Craddick

[Editor's note: We're removing part of Boyd Ritchie's comments from this article, as Newspaper Tree has removed them from their site. The Texas Democratic Party reports that Ritchie never commented specifically on Marquez and Moody and his quotes were taken out of context. However, no retraction has been made by Newspaper Tree on the part of Marquez.]

Marisa Marquez, who a day ago allegedly skipped out on part of a closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting in Austin to have lunch with State Reps. Ryan Guillen (D-Rio Grande City) and Ruth Jones McClendon (D-San Antonio), is now lambasting State Democratic Party Chair Boyd Ritchie for not reaching out to her following her defeat of State Rep. Paul Moreno (D-El Paso) and claiming that it is premature to consider her a vote for House Speaker Tom Craddick (R-Midland) come January.

Marquez told El Paso’s Newspaper Tree:

“It’s very premature to say we’re going to see this in the next couple of days or that in the next couple of days. Right now, it’s a no for Craddick.”

Marquez also lashed out at TDP Chairman Boyd Ritchie and the state party for not reaching out to her.

“They should be more supportive, not just to me but other new Democrats,” Marquez said. “I have not received a call from Boyd Richie since I won the primary. I have been invited to many of their events, I have given them money and supported them, but I really think there should be more reaching on their part. … A lot of people need to give us a chance.”

Time will only tell–about both Marquez and Chavez. And a lot will depend upon whether or not Craddick is able to wrangle up enough from his own caucus to secure his survival and what other Craddick D’s do.

  1. links from Technoratia Republican. Having the House 76-74 Republican makes that case easier than having the House 75-75. The Democrats must stand together with the 12-14 ABCs to do the job. See Capital Annex and Off the Kuff for their takes. PS: Boyd Richie, please callMarisa Marquez.

Time has told about Chavez at least. Here is the latest on her: http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/politics/34060654.html

If that is not enough, if Chavez were for Craddick, she would not have helped out Moody with field operations. I am sure you can contact Moody or his campaign to find out the extent to which Chavez assisted.
