Over the next few weeks, we’ll likely see a lot from state legislators relating to their thoughts on changes related to public school financing in the 81st Session of the Texas Legislature.
State Rep. Susan King (R-Abilene) had some thoughts on that in a forum last week, notes the Abilene Reporter-News:
State Rep. Susan King, R-Abilene, hosted a forum Thursday evening for educators to address their questions about the upcoming legislative session.
School administrators say they are unsure whether target revenue is a high priority for the Legislature this session.
King, in her second term, said after the forum that any changes to target revenue are most likely to be small scale.
“It may have to be an incremental change. It may have to be a carve-out for some of these people that are really having trouble and not be a broad-brush change,” King said. “Because every time you change the financing or the tax structure and then it’s changed every session, then you can never catch up and figure out what’s happening.”
