Kay Bailey Hutchison told reporters yesterday that she has made a decision to formally enter the governor’s race, but that she’ll delay the formal announcement of that decision until this summer.
From the Star-Telegram’s PoliTex Blog:
Q: Are you running for governor?
A: We’re in the process now of organizing our committee. My timetable is make the formal announcement this summer. The decision really now has been made. It’s a process of setting everything up to make an announcement.
Q: Will you give up your Senate seat to run?
A: I haven’t made that decision.
While the decision about abandoning her senate seat is no doubt subject to a lot of pressure from Republicans, it does seem she’s finally made up her mind to actually run for governor. Of course, Hutchison is prone to changing her mind, but for now we’ll consider this her non-announcement of her formal decision.
