Bill Hammond Sends Out His Annual Press Release Calling For Education Reform

When we ran across a blog post over at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s PoliTex blog about Texas Association of Business President Bill Hammond screaming for a complete overhaul of the educational system in Texas, we actually had to laugh.
Not because our educational system is in such great shape, mind you, but because we’ve been down this road before. With Bill Hammond and the Texas Association of Business, no less.
2008 marks at least the third year in a row that TAB has pulled an “Education In Texas Sucks!!!!!!!” press release out of its collective breast pocket and managed to turn it into headlines for at least two news cycles.
They did it in 2008. They did it in 2007. They are doing it again in 2009.
Keep in mind, by the way that TAB is the conservative organization that did all the illegal stuff to elect the rightwing majority to the Legislature in 2003 that has actually screwed up education pretty bad, too.
