More On Salvia Legislation; Rep. Anderson Says No Intent To “Dupe” Committee.

First and foremost, we’re waiting for a parody of this video to show up from some enterprising college students who will tell us how to write a member of the Texas Legislature on salvia:
Second, Rep. Charles Anderson’s office has contacted us regarding our coverage of the hearing from earlier this week.
Rep. Anderson’s staff tells us that there was no intent by the the lawmaker to “dupe” members of the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence by showing the video we discussed earlier this week. To clarify, Capitol Annex never accused Rep. Anderson of trying to “dupe” the Committee. We never stated that Rep. Anderson intentionally tried to “dupe” the committee. If you read our coverage carefully, we imply that everyone was equally duped, but that Anderson could have vetted his videos better. It is pretty clear from the comments of the members of the Committee as printed by the Houston Chronicle, as well as the Chronicle’s story, that pretty much everyone involved believed the driving video was legit.
Rep. Anderson’s staff has also advised Capitol Annex that Anderson’s bill is no longer a one-man crusade: it has, we are advised, eight co-sponsors. To clarify, we weren’t referring to the bill itself, but rather the fact that Rep. Anderson has been the champion of the cause before it was as prominent nationally as it is now, as we’ve covered before.
