A bill that would allow bets and other companion animals to be included in protective orders will be considered by the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence today at 2 p.m. or when the House adjourns for the day.
The bill, HB 853 by State Rep. Jodie Laubenberg (R-Wylie) would prevent persons subject to a protective order from removing a pet, companion animal, or assistance animal from the person named in the order.
It would also prevent persons subject to a protective order from harming, threatening, or interfering with the care, custody, or control of a pet, companion animal, ore assistance animal that is owned or possessed by a person protected by a protective order.
