A number of bills relating to property owner’s associations and what they can and can’t do will before the House Committee on Business & Industry this morning at 9 a.m.

Among the bills scheduled for hearing is Rep. Burt Solomons’ HB 1976, legislation that would open up the books of property associations to their members, among other things.

Another piece of legislation before the committee would prohibit property owner’s associations from stopping residents from displaying certain religious items, including a mezuzah. The bill is HB 3025 by State Rep. Garnet Coleman (D-Houston).
