Berman Says There Is More Voter Fraud Than Rapes, Murders

State Rep. Leo Berman (R-Tyler) has made an amusing statement concerning voter identification. Keep in mind it is a total lie, but it is funny anyway. And, it goes to show that Republicans are desperate to pass voter ID.
From the Statesman:
Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, chaired the House Committee on Elections through 2008. He said it’s his inference from testimony by local election administrators that prosecutors don’t prioritize election law violations.
“There’s so much fraud that even the district attorney or the attorney general won’t prosecute it,” Berman said. “If they did, they’d have to stop prosecuting murderers and rapists.”

Funny? How? Funny because he is hyberbolizing and or he is stupid? Rape and murder are not funny. Lying about voter fraud happening more than rape and murder–well, one in four women are raped or sexually assaulted in their lifetimes so there must be a hell of a lot of voter fraud.
He should come spend the day in Houston where there is less voter fraud than there is murder or rape on any given day. Does he mean that rape and murder stops on election day because the rapist and murderers are out voting?
