Sharp Beats White In Fundraising For Quarter, But Houston Mayor Has Raised More Overall
Vince Leibowitz | Apr 15, 2009 | Comments 0
Former Texas Comptroller John Sharp raised more than $2.5 million for his run for U.S. Senate during the first quarter of 2009, besting Houston Mayor Bill White by more than a half million dollars in fundraising during the first quarter of 2009. White reported raising over $1.8 million in the first quarter of the year.
White bested Sharp in overall fundraising, however, but has been raising money since late last year. Sharp, who only started raising funds after the first of the year, reported over $2.4 million in cash on hand; White reported raising $2.6 million in the first “100 days” of his campaign, but did not report a cash on hand total in his press release. (We have emailed the campaign to get the COH figure to compare the two).
