Is Roger Williams Running For Senate Or Opening A Professional Sports Franchise?

First, we heard that former Texas Secretary of State and used car dealer Roger Williams got former Texas Tech basketball coach Bob Knight to endorse his campaign for U. S. Senate (because, of course, you can never have enough people stashed away in the audience ready to throw chairs at debate moderators).

Now, we have this news:

Former Dallas Cowboys Rayfield Wright and Bob Lilly and Norm Bulaich, a former NFL and TCU running back, are all throwing their support behind the Weatherford car dealer.

All three provide the necessary football metaphors in their endorsements.

Wright: “He’ll protect our values and he’ll help us move down the field with his business experience and leadership.”

Lilly: “He’ll be the quarterback we need for common sense Texas values.”

Bulaich: “Roger will carry the ball for all Texans.”

Seriously, this all gives new meaning to the term “athletic supporter.” Williams even has a snazzy footballish splash page on his lackluster website. I’m sure the “Donate $50 and Get A Jockstrap Autographed By Roger!” grapic isn’t far behind.
