Cindy Burkett, A Mesquite Restaurateur and former staffer for State Sen. Bob Deuell (R-Greenville) has announced she will seek the Republican Party’s nomination for the HD 101 seat currently held by State Rep. Robert Miklos (D-Mesquite).
An already crowded field is emerging for the HD 1010 GOP Primary. Former State Rep. Thomas Latham (R-Sunnyvale) already announced he’d seek a grudge match against Miklos.
From Burkett’s press release:
Burkett, who is co-owner and vice president of a firm that operates five restaurants is also well
known for her community and political involvement. Burkett is a past Deputy Regional Director for Republican State Senator Bob Deuell as well as a Legislative Aide for the Senator during the 79th Regular Session. Senator Deuell’s Senatorial District includes the 101st House District.
It will be interesting to see how this primary comes out. Although the district remains tough, Miklos will likely win re-election.
